Brent King's Back Injury PledgePage2
Hello again,
My name is Brent Edward King and I have been suffering from a back injury called Spondylolsthesis with instability along with a bulging disc for 1 1/2 years now. I had been working for The Home Depot for a little over a month when I was in a car accident after dropping my fiance off at work and was returning home before her/our two children(from a previous marriage)came home from school. I came to a 4-way stop and let the car to the right of me cross then the car to the left of me pass and I started to cross the intersection, I was more than halfway across when I looked to my right a car was at my door and before I could even hit the horn he hit my passenger side back door and wheel well. I spun completly around facing the opposite direction. Thank God no one was coming from the opposite lane from me or there probably would have been a third car involed and someone else hurt. I watched him park at the corner and I was so angry but i held my breath and thought to myself " I didn't do anything wrong, I'll let the police handle this" then I thought " I hope he/they aren't hurt" I wish those thoughts had come to me in a different order... but they didn't. When i got out of the car my blood was still pumping. He used a cell phone to call the local police when they arrived I noticed I could barely stand on my right leg. After limping around and explaining what happened to the police, exchanging information they called for the paramedics they gave me a once over and all I was really concerned with was getting home to be with/watch Bobby and Jessica. After all since I hadn't any medical insurance yet the last thing we needed was a medical bill and being in the retail business for years I've pulled muscles before and thats what it felt like at that moment. The car was still drivable so I drove home. I iced my hip and leg all night. When I got to work the next morning I was still limping and the pain after standing for about 10 minutes was incredibly unbearable. When I sat down it became even worse(thats one of the symptoms of Spondylolsthesis)for another minute or two. I left work after about 20 minutes and had to see a doctor regardless of the cost. I had found one close to me as suggested by a few co-workers that had similar problems and contacted a lawyer. Since I was only with the company for such a short time I had no insurance and was put on an 8 week leave of absence(at the time I wasn't diagnosed with anything and was praying it was just a pulled muscle). I never returned. The operation alone is 50,000 + 10,000 already incurred for medical bills then I have attorney fees after that. I haven't been to work since May 16 2003 we've had to move from Las Vegas, NV to Bullhead City,AZ because of the cost of living. I cannot afford the perscriptions that are supposed to help the pain wich feels like I'm walking around with a bag of broken glass on my back while having stabbing pains in my side. I am on state medical but they say they will not cover anything related to the accident and I am also recieving $140.00 a month in foodstamps. Barbara my fiance(we were supposed to be married in jan,2004)is paying all the bills from her job at BigLots. She still is able to come home and be a mother, future wife and my best friend. Our children are able to remain straight A students although we try to keep them oblivious to the constent struggle to pay bills and keep food on the table. It is painfully obvious when they need new clothes and especially around the holidays when they do not get many gifts at all. They still understand that I cannot do much of anything right now and help whenever they can. Unfortunatly I cannot return the favor..... I can't even walk around the block with them and that hurts worse than all the pain i've suffered my entire life. The stress about me being disabled is just as unbearable as the pain this accident has caused. Sometimes I think they would be better off without me. If you wish to help my family please contact me at BrentEKing@Frontiernet.net I would gladly suffer a thousand times worse than I do right now for them. If you would like to help me get better to become the husband/father I want/need to be or just help me get my children a little something for Christmas and maybe something for Barbara, She deserves so much more than I can give her. You can donate through Paypal at my e-mail address any amount would be greatly appreciated. I have scans of my diagnoses and police report from the accident that i can e-mail to anyone. |
